Aspects of Bridport

Entry in the Bridport Art Prize 2027 is open to all artists worldwide aged 16 years and over at the time the entry is submitted.

The entry fee is $20 per artwork, with a maximum of two entries per artist.

All artworks must depict, represent, interpret or signify an aspect of the township of Bridport, Tasmania - its natural surrounds, beaches, rivers, forests, flora, fauna, people or places of interest. For the purposes of this exhibition, the area of the township is considered to be a 20km radius from the centre of the town of Bridport. All imagery and subject matter, including landscapes, seascapes, must fall or be resident within this boundary.

Entries must be submitted online and be received by 11.59pm on Tuesday 15 December 2026. Entries must include an image of the artwork (max 6MB) and an Artist Statement about the artwork submitted (max 100 words). Late or incomplete entries will not be accepted. An email acknowledging receipt of the entry and an invoice for payment of the entry fee of $20 will be sent within 10 working days. Entry fees are payable prior to delivery of the artwork for exhibition.

All artworks must be the original work and concept of the artist. The work must have been completed within the last two years (i.e. dated 2025 or 2026) and not previously been entered into an art prize.
A maximum of two entries per artist is permitted, but must be made on separate entries.

All works must be entered by and be the exclusive property of the artist.

Works can be in any medium, excluding photography and video.
2D artworks must be suitably framed or stretched, ready to hang with appropriately sized D-rings attached. Size must not exceed 180cm in width or height, including any frame.
3D works must not exceed 100cm in any dimension, and weigh no more than 20kg. Artists must supply a suitable means of display, such as a plinth, if required.

Entries must be delivered, free of any charges, to the Bridport Community Hall on Monday 18 January between 9 am and 1 pm. Please contact the exhibition coordinator if you need to discuss these arrangements. The organisers reserve the right to reject any work upon delivery if it is deemed to present a health hazard or physical risk to staff or the public; is unfit for display, including works that are wet, incomplete, structurally unstable, or damaged; be impractical to install due to factors such as excessive weight, size, fragility or unsuitable materials.

All entries must be securely labelled with the artist’s name, title, date, medium and dimensions of the artwork.

Insurance, including transit insurance, is the full responsibility of the artist. Bridport Innovations Inc. and the Bridport Art Prize will exercise all care but will accept no liability or responsibility for any loss or damage, however caused, to any artwork while in their custody. Nor will they accept any responsibility for the cost of delivery or despatch of artworks.

It is the intention of the organisers to exhibit all entries received in the Bridport Art Prize Exhibition; however, they retain the right to accept, reject or exclude an entry if deemed inappropriate or unsuitable for exhibition for any reason determined by the Bridport Art Prize Sub-Committee. The Committee’s decision shall be final, and no correspondence on the matter will be entered into.

All works entered into the Bridport Art Prize must be for sale. The Bridport Art Prize will retain 20% commission on the sale price of any artwork. Please factor this in when determining the selling price.
Payment for sold works will be made within 14 days from settlement of the sale.

The artist must arrange to collect unsold artworks between 3.30 pm and 6.00 pm on Sunday 31 January or between 10am and 4pm on Monday 1 February 2027. All other collections by prior arrangement only.
